TAAF Update

CONGRATS TO MATTHEW & R.J. KIME!!!

Matthew & R.J. Kime participated in TAAF this season!  Matthew placed 3rd in both freestyle and backstroke!  Great Job Matthew!  R.J. placed 4th in freestyle and 2nd in backstroke!  R.J. will be going to the state meet!!  WAY TO GO!!!  Marlins are so proud of you!

As of 7 a.m......June 23...All practices are ON!  We will be monitoring the weather and will notify you via e-mail if something changes!

All practices have been cancelled today, June 17th due to pool conditions beyond our control.   See you in the morning at 7:30 a.m.

MEET Monday June 13

June 13 at the Highland Knolls Pool
IF YOU WILL NOT BE ATTENDING, and indicated that you would be, LET US KNOW ASAP!
·Arrive at pool no later than 4:30pm to receive numbers, check in with “pit parents” and check to see what events your swimmer is swimming. (Parents this is also when you check in for volunteering)
·Warm up begins promptly at 5:00pm  (If your swimmer misses warm up, they cannot make it up)
·Meet begins at 6pm
·Event Order: Free Relay, Free, Back, IM, Breast, Fly, Medley Relay (Note: 6&Unders only swim through Back)
·When your swimmer is done swimming all of their events, you are free to leave. Be sure to check out with the pit parent for your child’s age group.
-Because our swimmers will be sitting outside during the heat of the day, be sure to pack some snacks and most importantly water. Please avoid sugar until they are done swimming.  Also, pack some toys or games to keep them occupied during the time they spend in the pit. Please try to avoid bringing electronic toys, as they have a tendency to become lost or broken. Please remind your children to behave while in the pit.

-Remember, the coaches will be VERY busy Monday before the meet. The heat sheet will be made Sunday evening. If you know you will not be attending (and have not filled out the meet attendance form) let us know ASAP. If your child becomes ill, let us know ASAP. The earlier we know what changes to make the less changes we will have to make at the meet. Also, do not approach coaches during the meet. If you need to get a message to them, please let a board member know and they will tell our coaches.

****Please note the playground is off limits to all swimmers during the meet. Non-swimmers are allowed, but must be accompanied by a parent.

LAKER Meet

Meet starts at 6pm.  Please arrive by 5pm.   There is a guard/gate and all drivers must have a valid driver's license to enter the neighborhood. 

We recommmend carpooling.

The pool does not have a lot of deck space.   LAKERs ask that parents sit where the swimmers will be set up for pit and go to pool deck to watch each event.. 

Swimmers must stay in Pit area. It is a long walk to pool and if they are not in the pit, we will NOT be looking for them and they can miss their event.

Meet Attendance

Families! Please take the time to fill out the meet attendance form. All you have to do is put in your swimmers name and answer yes or no for each meet. Instructions are listed on the top. Remember: while we do not yet know if your swimmer will be swimming in the Meet of Champs, we do need to know if they can attend.

Practice May 3rd!

We are practicing today!! Come prepared to swim, but also bring tennis shoes and shorts; if it is too cold we will do dry land conditioning. See you all this afternoon!

 

SWIM PRACTICE

MARLINS SWIM PRACTICE BEGINS TODAY!

For the Month of May practice is Monday through Friday at the Highland Knolls Pool.

** All swimmers will begin practice on Monday, May 2^nd.

Times for preseason practice:

Jr. High and High School  3:30 – 4:30

6 and under 4:30 – 5:15

Ages 7 – 8  5:15 – 6:15

Ages 9 -10 and 5^th grade  6:15 – 7:15

Girls must wear a ONE piece bathing suit to practice & a swim cap!

 

SWIM TEAM REGISTRATION WEDNESDAY APRIL 27th 6 - 8 pm @ the Cimarron Clubhouse

If you are a resident in the neighborhood, you must have your pool ID's validated for the 2011 season!  Bring it with you so we can see it!  GO MARLINS!

Certified Stroke/Touch Turn Judge Clinics!

Hi Marlin Parents!  We are in need of  Judges for our swim meets!!  If you are interested in becoming a Touch Turn Judge, Stroke Judge or a Starter for MPST you must be certified by going to training classes.  Here are the Dates: 

NEW CERTIFICATION:    Saturday, May 7th           10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
                                         Wednesday, May 18th     6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
* These are the only two sessions for new certification!!!

RE-CERTIFICATION:  Saturday, May 18th               10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
                                    Wednesday, June 1st             6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
* Judges seeking re-certification may go to any of the classes listed.

If you have been a judge in the past & do not remember when your certification is expiring, e-mail us at mpstmarlins@gmail.com and we will look up your certification date!

We have swim team registration tonight at the Cimarron Clubhouse from 6-8pm.  If you live in Memorial Parkway, you will need to bring your pool ID's that have been validated for 2011!!  See you there!

Are you ready for a fantastic swim season? Welcome to the Memorial Parkway Swim Team 2011 swim season!! The MPST board and the coaches are expecting a wonderful season filled with fun and excitement.

This will be our official website with the most up to date information.

SWIMMER REGISTRATION:

Dates:

Sunday, March 27th 2 pm- 4pm

Wednesday, April 13th 6pm - 8pm

Wednesday April 27th 6pm - 8pm

ALL at the Cimarron Clubhouse

Fees:

$80 first child, $65 second child, $55 third child & 4^th child free.

Register by May 6.  Late Registration fee:  $10 per family. Deadline May 13.

All paperwork must be turned in together. (No forms, No ID, No $, No swim.)

PRESEASON PRACTICE:

Preseason will be held Monday through Friday at the Highland Knolls Pool.
